Howard Lessinger specializes in tort litigation on behalf of corporate entities, with a particular emphasis on premises liability. His client list includes national retailers, hotels, office buildings, restaurants, hospitals and shopping malls. As a member of a national retailer’s rapid response team, he has investigated numerous high exposure incidents in order to preserve evidence, prepare internal reports, and make remedial recommendations. He serves as a national coordinating counsel for a national corporation’s specialty trial group. He has conducted mock trials and focus groups in high exposure cases to develop comprehensive trial themes and defense strategies.

In his 40 year career, Mr. Lessinger has handled thousands of premises liability cases, ranging from the simple slip and fall to the complex product liability and premises security case. These cases have included high exposure incidents such as workplace violence, sexual assault, fatal shootings, catastrophic injury and death. He and his team have obtained as many as 45 summary judgments in one calendar year, and have tried as many as twelve cases to jury verdict in one calendar year. He has over 50 published appellate opinions, many of which are often cited by the courts.

Mr. Lessinger is a 1977 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Georgia Law Review. He received a B.B.A. in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia in 1974.  Mr. Lessinger has practiced with McLain & Merritt since his graduation from law school in 1977.
